Omron Full Body Composition Monitor with Scale Review

I was excited to get this scale. It’s my first scale that does more than tell you how much you weigh. I don’t really have a way to tell how accurate the weight reading is. But I do know that it’s consistent. I’ve tried all sorts of different tests: Weighing myself multiple times, recalibrating the scale each time, weighing myself with shoes, then without shoes, then weighing the shoes to see if me + shoes = me wearing shoes, etc. etc. The numbers always seem to come out the way they should.
The same goes for the other readings – I have no way of knowing how accurate they are. But across a few days, resting metabolism varies by no more than 10-15 calories, skeletal muscle and body fat stay within 1%, visceral fat is always the same number, and BMI only varies slightly with day-to-day weight changes.
It’s been a little under three weeks so far with the scale, so I haven’t really had it long enough to see a significant trend forming based on my recent exercise regimen. But being able to see all of those values really keeps your behavior in check. Every time you see one of the values change for the better, it helps to renew your resolve. I’ve got a lot of room to improve, and I think this scale is really going to help me maintain my focus.
In my opinion, it’s worth double what I paid for it. I only wish (manufacturers, take note!) that there was more you could do with the memory function. It keeps 90 days worth of data for each user profile, but you can only view today, yesterday, last week, last month, and 90 days ago. I’d like to see a little USB port in there where you could put a memory stick and it would download a CSV or other delimited text file containing your history. It would be a simple matter to import the file into a spreadsheet application to view charts and graphs of your progress.

Omron HBF-400 Scale W/ Fat Loss Monitor Review

My 15 year-old Health-o-Meter scale recently gave out. So, I did my homework and selected the HBF-400 as the best unit for the price. I’m very pleased with the results. (1) It’s easy to use. Press the button, it callibrates itself, step on the scale, and it quickly gives a weight reading. Remarkably fast, considering how incidental body movement must affect accuracy. And it gives me an appreciation of why manufacturers callibrate their scales in two-tenth units. If they tried to specifiy accuracy down to the nearest tenth, it would take much longer for a person’s body sway to dampen. (2) It’s easy to read. The large numbers make reading it a snap. (3) It is an attractive unit. Well-crafted. Modern looking. Much nicer than its picture. (4) The body fat analyzer seems accurate. It matched exactly with the results I recently got at a health fair. Although I primarily purchased the HBF-400 as a better scale to track my diet, the fat analyzer is a nice motivational feature. It reassures me that, even when there is a slight weight rebound, my overall fat trend is proceeding in the right direction. (5) Lastly, the accuracy of the scale makes me appreciate why my body weight seems to fluctuate so much. With my old scale (plus or minus one pound readings), I couldn’t figure out why I seemed to gain or lose a couple of pounds within the same day. With the Omron scale, I can see how drinking a glass of water, eating a meal, or going to the bathroom affects each reading. I gave this product a 5-star rating. It exceeded all of my expectations.
=================================================================
EDIT: 3 years later and the Omron HBF-400 is still working like a charm. It’s survived the usual household treatment of being occasionally kicked around, especially by my six year old boy, and it still looks and works like brand new. Very happy with its quality and performance.

Omron Portable ECG EKG Handheld HCG-801 Monitor Review

I purchased the Omron Portable ECG Monitor at my heart doctor’s direction. I had a bout of Afib. The doctor did a shock treatment. He put me on coumadin to lessen the chances of blood clots. Because I will not take a blood transfusion (I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses) I had to get off cumoudin.A serious internal bleed would be impossible to stop. By monitoring my heart rate (regular or irregular) I could know that my heart is staying in sinus rhythm. I was so pleased with the monitor for it helps me keep track of a situation at home which could become life threatening. I have peace of mind because I know that my heart is doing OK or if not I am instructed to call my heart doctor. It took me a few days to learn how to use it properly. The nurse in the Doctor’s office observed and made suggestions. I can now confidently monitor my heart rhythm and possibly avoid a future stoke.
Omron Portable ECG EKG Handheld HCG-801 Monitor Feature
- Brand New In The Box With A Warranty!
Omron Portable ECG EKG Handheld HCG-801 Monitor Overview
“Omron Portable ECG EKG Handheld HCG-801 Monitor. A main cause of mortality is cardiovascular disease or CVD (leading to stroke, heart attack, heart failure) and a major risk factor for CVD is high blood pressure. Omron has established itself as a leader in blood pressure monitoring inside the home as well as in hospital settings. Now, Omron has applied its traditional expertise in sensor technology to take the next step in CVD monitoring in the homecare context, by creating a new home monitoring device. Symptoms such as heart pain, palpitations and shortness of breath may be signs of heart disease and may be transient. In some cases, delay in detection may lead to the worsening of heart conditions (an increasingly repetitive pattern of transient abnormalities) and may prevent a patient or doctor from seeking corrective treatments before a potential heart attack or stroke. However, there are some challenges to keeping records of these symptoms in real time by conventional approaches. With the OMRON Portable ECG Monitor HCG-801, a recording of about 30 seconds can be made when symptoms occur whether at home or away. These recordings can then be shown to the doctor, who can examine and use the information to assist in correct diagnosis of symptoms. WHERE CAN THE HCG-801 BE USED? – Clinic and Hospitals – The transient symptoms of cardiovascular disease can be difficult to record by conventional devices. – The HCG-801 provides users with a quick and easy way of real-time recording. – Monitoring on Post-operation – Monitoring on Cardiac rehabilitation – The unique features of the Portable ECG Monitor HCG-801 make it a versatile multi-purpose tool for medical professionals. – Its cordless operation and direct on-screen display allow a quick scan of the heart condition and its compact design easily fits in a medical bag or coat pocket.”

LG W2753V-PF 27-Inch Class Widescreen LCD Monitor (Gloss Black) Review

wow!This monitor puts all my previous monitors to shame, a 22″,24″ I had. Well my last monitor was my first monitor with a HDMI port for full 1080p hook up but that monitor,jeez… bad color,angles so bad the screen looked poor, if I leaned back in my chair sat on bed, if i wasn’t looking straight at it forget about it,it was dark!, my 1st monitor jus was really poor quality compared to this LG. Now about the LG well, here are my uses, 1) As extension screen for my laptop 2) My secondary screen for my PLAYSTATION 3. Let me say my laptop has a 17″ screen, the LG 27″ it jus dawfs it! I dont even open my laptop any more at home, it stays on an connected to the LG. My PS3 WOW! my games looked great! 1080p ROCKS on this LG as far as the PS3 games go.(HDMI or nothing) Angles good!. Good,(considering this is no 00-00+TX IPS screen), I mean its hard for me to get in a spot where the screen looks dark, I say good job LG on that.Now excessive heat ok, we all know LCD screens get hot/warm, now do I think this one gets more hot than usual uhmm…. I would say yeah you can fell heat coming off of it on a cold night so it is what it is, as far as heat. It gets hot. Cant Bragg here, monitor adjustments no height adjustment jus tilt back an forward but not that much, I really wish it had wall mountable screw holes,it doesn’t have vesa wall mount screw holes on the back so that sucks, that’s how my last monitor was hooked up on the wall, frees up sooo much desk space that way. Uh-mm as far as movies, BLU-ray…… well colors looked good, dark colors not so good its not the best at watching HI-DEF but it gets the job done. Dimensions: 27″ wide screen perfect, height 19″ good, now the depth, I wish someone would have mention this WOW! lets say its not light on its foot about 1″-2.5″ I would say.If your looking more for style not function an want something really flat to hang on a wall for desk space, this is not the monitor for you its beefy! but if you want a large screen great for PS3 or (XBOX360 HDMI)GAMES an for an laptop extension or a really nice desktop screen this is it! (WHY USE AS A SECONDARY PS3 SCREEN YOU SAY? WELL LETS SAY NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO WATCH ME PLAY THE PS3 ON MY SAMSUNG50)
